Sequence 022 — Meridian applied lab - execute, vary and prove

Stage: Applied Lab
Source: CDMP Master Execution Manual — Chapter 1

When / purpose

Perform the Chapter 1 work independently enough that the output is evidence of understanding rather than tutorial completion.

What you should learn

  • Follow the business problem, not a click path.
  • Separate Chapter 1 reasoning from the mechanics of the tool or template used to express it.
  • A changed fact should be able to change your analysis; otherwise the work may be rote.
  • Evidence should show what you observed, decided, changed and learned—not just a finished artifact.

Do this in order

  1. Continue the Chapter 1 Meridian Applied Lab from your Sequence 021 prediction.
  2. Build the data-asset inventory, assess value/risk, trace lifecycle responsibilities, and state business/data requirements before technology choices.
  3. Build the small Chapter 1 direction/strategy outputs called for by the lab, including the relevant charter, scope or roadmap work.
  4. Complete the Knowledge Area reasoning and changed-fact variation. Reconsider the decision when one important Meridian fact changes instead of copying the original conclusion.
  5. Complete the independent rebuild/debrief portion without following the earlier work line-by-line.
  6. Save evidence using the Chapter 1 evidence checklist: preserve source/working/output distinctions, assumptions, decisions and before/after reasoning.
  7. Explain how the critical result demonstrates Chapter 1 Data Management concepts rather than merely showing that a document was produced.

Stop / boundary

Do not expand this into SQL, Python or data-engineering work. Chapter 1 is demonstrating enterprise Data Management reasoning; the major technical gates occur later.

Evidence of completion

  • The Chapter 1 Meridian lab outputs are completed through the independent rebuild/debrief stage.
  • At least one changed-fact variation was reasoned through.
  • Evidence captures assumptions, decisions, outputs and explanation—not screenshots alone.

Completion gate

You can reproduce the critical result and explain how it demonstrates Chapter 1 rather than merely showing a finished artifact.
