Data Quality Management is not a cleanup chapter. It is the continuing discipline that turns consumer purpose into measurable quality requirements, identifies what data matters most, discovers and diagnoses defects, improves the processes that create them, and then operates quality controls continuously.
Master mental model
PURPOSE → CRITICAL DATA → DIMENSION → RULE → MEASURE → THRESHOLD → ISSUE → ROOT CAUSE → PREVENT / REMEDIATE → OPERATE / SLA → MONITOR / TREND → GOVERN / IMPROVE
The exam repeatedly tests whether you can identify the deciding clue rather than merely recognize a familiar term.
Seven study layers
- Guided Learning — build the full mental model from first principles.
- Exam Map & High-Yield Targets — 34 targets, confusion pairs, changed-fact drills.
- Visual Memory Map / Framework Atlas — 12 text-first redraw maps.
- Comparison & Battle Cards — 40 rapid + 12 deep cards.
- Scenario Lab — 24 scenarios + integrated capstone.
- Question Bank — 68 original questions with separate diagnostics.
- Teach-Back & Blank-Page Recall — 91 recalls, 12 rebuilds, 20 classifications, compression drills.
What must become automatic
- fit for purpose is contextual, not absolute perfection;
- DQ is an ongoing function, not a temporary cleanup project;
- criticality comes from business/customer/regulatory/financial/reputational impact;
- the nine dimensions answer different questions;
- a dimension is not a rule, a rule is not a metric, and a metric is not a threshold;
- profiling reveals facts; requirements determine whether those facts are defects;
- initial assessment establishes a baseline; monitoring is repeated operational control;
- correction repairs existing bad data; root-cause remediation and prevention stop recurrence;
- DQ operations manage rules, measures, issues, SLAs, and response/reporting continuously;
- Governance turns DQ evidence into priorities, ownership, decisions, and action.
Artifact 08 remains intentionally empty. It should be built later only from repeated real misses, slow decisions, or confidence mismatches.
