Chapter 6 is the operating chapter: how stored data is kept available, intact, performant, recoverable, secure, and controlled through its lifecycle. The exam skill is not database administration; it is recognizing the right role, architecture, environment, operational process, continuity/performance response, and governance control.
The chapter spine
Business continuity → Availability · Integrity · Transaction performance → two connected activity families:
- Database Technology Support — select, install, configure, maintain, patch, upgrade, administer, and monitor the DBMS/storage technology.
- Database Operations Support — operate the stored data and environments: acquisition/load, change, backup/recovery, retention/archive/purge, replication, performance, test data, migration, and service operation.
