Purpose

Make Chapter 1 visible as enterprise Data Management work: identify data assets, connect them to business value and risk, trace lifecycle responsibilities, separate business/data requirements from technology choices, and create a small business-aligned Data Management direction for Meridian.

Work this lab in order

  1. Purpose, DMBOK Targets & Prerequisite Gate
  2. Predict First & Build the Data Asset Inventory
  3. Assess Value/Risk & Trace Lifecycle Responsibilities
  4. State Requirements Before Technology
  5. Build the Charter, Scope Statement & Roadmap
  6. Map Knowledge Areas, Change One Fact & Repair the Decision
  7. Independent Rebuild, Evidence & Closed-Book Debrief
  8. Reconstruction Key, Completion Rubric & Source Notes

Execution path

  • Before: Chapter 1 Guided Learning + mastery work.
  • Sequence 021: enter with a written prediction/hypothesis before using the lab guidance.
  • Sequence 022: execute the lab, vary an important fact, rebuild independently, and preserve evidence.
  • After: Chapter 1 DMBOK debrief, actual-error repair if needed, spaced revisit, and applied deepening in Sequences 023โ€“026.

Do not delay this lab for SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, or pandas. Use Docs/Sheets and diagrams.net if useful. The major technical gate is intentionally later.

The older 100-step tracker once used a different sequence number for this lab. That legacy numbering is superseded; use the current 330-sequence 00C route above.
