Sequence 021 — Meridian applied-lab plan and prediction
Stage: Applied Lab
Source: CDMP Master Execution Manual — Chapter 1
When / purpose
Enter the Chapter 1 lab with a business hypothesis before touching tools or templates.
What you should learn
- The Chapter 1 concept is the lesson; the tool or template is only the medium.
- Prediction forces you to expose your current reasoning before the lab gives you feedback.
- Business value, risk, lifecycle responsibility and requirements should drive the work before technology choices.
- A useful lab plan states what result you expect and what evidence would change your conclusion.
Do this in order
- Open the Chapter 1 Meridian Applied Lab.
- Read Purpose, DMBOK Targets & Prerequisite Gate without starting the build steps.
- Begin Predict First & Build the Data Asset Inventory by completing the prediction work before using templates or later guidance.
- Write a short hypothesis covering which Meridian data assets matter most, where value/risk is likely to concentrate, and which lifecycle or responsibility problems you expect to find.
- State what observation would cause you to revise that hypothesis.
- Confirm the lab’s boundary: do not delay Chapter 1 for SQL, PostgreSQL, Python or pandas; use simple documents, sheets and diagrams where helpful.
Meridian application
Treat Meridian as the business context for testing Chapter 1 reasoning. Do not turn this sequence into tool training.
Evidence of completion
- A pre-lab hypothesis/prediction is written before execution.
- Expected value/risk, lifecycle or responsibility issues are stated.
- At least one disconfirming observation is identified.
Completion gate
You can explain what you are about to do, why it matters, what you expect to find, and what result would change your conclusion.
