Sequence 012 — Read Chapter 1 source - first pass
Stage: Source Study
Source: CDMP Master Execution Manual — Chapter 1
When / purpose
Build a whole-chapter mental map before studying derivative guides.
What you should learn
- See Chapter 1 as one coherent knowledge area rather than a list of isolated terms.
- Notice the major sections, recurring ideas, frameworks, roles, and relationships.
- Separate what the DMBOK actually says from explanations that will appear later in the mastery artifacts.
Do this in order
- Read the controlling Chapter 1 DMBOK source from beginning to end for orientation and structure.
- Do not stop to memorize every term on this pass.
- Mark major headings, concepts that recur, frameworks/figures, and passages you do not yet understand.
- Write a short outline of the chapter from memory after the first pass.
- Reopen the source and correct the outline where your mental map was incomplete or inaccurate.
Evidence of completion
- First full source pass completed.
- A brief whole-chapter outline or mental-map note exists.
- Confusing areas are marked for the Guided Learning Guide rather than filled in from outside sources.
Completion gate
You can describe the chapter’s overall shape and major themes without reopening the source.
