Sequence 159 — Read Chapter 9 source - first pass

Context: Chapter 9 - Document and Content Management | Source Study
Source: CDMP Master Execution Manual

When / purpose

Build a whole-chapter mental map before studying derivative guides.

What you should learn

  • See the chapter as a coherent knowledge area.
  • Identify recurring terms, structures, roles/processes only as they appear in the source.
  • Notice examples and figures that may matter later.
  • Mark uncertainty instead of resolving it from memory.

What to read / study

MUST: DMBOK Chapter 9 source PDF — read the full chapter once for structure and meaning; do not make exhaustive notes on the first pass.

Do this in order

  1. Read from beginning to end at a comprehension pace.
  2. Mark headings, repeated concepts and unfamiliar terms.
  3. Flag confusing comparisons with a question mark.
  4. Do not copy paragraphs; capture only a short structure outline.
  5. At the end, write a 5–10 sentence plain-language summary from memory.

Meridian application

While reading, keep Meridian in the background and note only obvious connections to content lifecycle, retention, metadata, controlled vocabulary and discovery work.

Create / save

One-page chapter structure outline + uncertainty list.

Stop / boundary

Stay inside the current source/skill boundary. Do not pre-learn later chapters or engineering depth.

Completion gate

You can describe the chapter’s shape without reopening the source.
