Visual Maps 01–04
Map 1 — Content Control Loop
Rebuild:
CAPTURE → TAG / METADATA → STORE → CONTROL / VERSION → RETAIN or DISPOSE → SEARCH / RETRIEVE → PUBLISH / DELIVER → AUDIT / IMPROVE
Interpretation: Chapter 9 is a lifecycle, not a repository purchase. Metadata near intake enables later classification, retention, retrieval and audit.
Map 2 — Information Object Ladder
Rebuild:
CONTENT (information) → DOCUMENT (container/object) → RECORD (evidence + formal integrity/retention/disposition)
Check: not every document is a record. Record status comes from evidentiary/lifecycle significance, not file format.
Map 3 — GARP Compass
Rebuild:
ACCOUNTABILITY | INTEGRITY | PROTECTION | COMPLIANCE | AVAILABILITY | RETENTION | DISPOSITION | TRANSPARENCY
Failure cues: nobody responsible → Accountability; authenticity weak → Integrity; cannot retrieve → Availability; unclear keep period → Retention; unauthorized end-of-life action → Disposition.
Map 4 — Vocabulary Complexity / Relationship Map
Rebuild:
TERM/PICK LIST → SYNONYM / AUTHORITY → TAXONOMY → THESAURUS → ONTOLOGY
Check: do not treat this as “just increasing complexity.” Identify what relationships must be represented.
