Changed-Fact Drills & Readiness

Changed-fact practice trains the skill the exam actually needs: knowing which new fact makes the neighboring answer better.

Drill 1 — Decentralized → Network

Base: distributed roles and committee collaboration = decentralized. Changed fact: a maintained RACI/documented accountability network is added. New answer: Network. Why: the reporting structure can remain distributed; formal accountability is the deciding addition. Source: pp. 523–524.

Drill 2 — Hybrid → Federated

Base: central COE + BU teams = hybrid. Changed fact: multiple divisional/regional DMO structures are added under enterprise strategy. New answer: Federated. Why: federation adds layers and regional/divisional semi-autonomy. Source: pp. 525–527.

Drill 3 — Reuse committee → dedicated structure

Base: existing committee is a reasonable governance forum. Changed fact: it cannot give Data Management sufficient attention or make the needed decisions. New answer: modify/supplement it or establish a dedicated structure. Source: p. 532.

Drill 4 — Meet Their Needs → Key Player

Base: stakeholder has high influence and lower interest. Changed fact: interest/impact becomes high while influence stays high. New answer: Key Player. Source: p. 533.

Drill 5 — Data Steward → DQ Analyst

Base: primary responsibility is business definitions, rules, valid values, and assigned-data accountability. Changed fact: primary responsibility becomes monitoring fitness, condition, root cause, and business/technical improvement. New answer: Data Quality Analyst. Source: pp. 538–539.

Readiness checks

1. Can you identify an operating model without the model name?

You are ready if you can classify: local autonomy, RACI, one-owner centralization, COE+BU, divisional/regional layers, and decision style.

2. Can you diagnose people-side symptoms?

Translate the clue: - no authority/champion → sponsorship; - leaders disagree → alignment; - people do not understand why/what → communication; - people know why but cannot perform → training; - critical people were not engaged → stakeholder engagement; - organization launched but no proof of changed behavior/outcomes → adoption measurement.

3. Can you map roles without importing current job-market assumptions?

Use Chapter 16 definitions only. Titles evolve over time; the source-bound responsibility is what controls here.
