Compression Teach-Back + Self-Scoring & Repair
Compression teach-back
5 minutes
Teach the entire chapter in this order:
purpose → roles → architectures → processing/storage/environments → operations → continuity/performance → governance
Do not recite headings only. Give one example and one confusion pair in each major section.
2 minutes
Explain the 10 distinctions most likely to be confused. A strong set includes Technology/Operations, DBA roles, centralized/distributed/federated, ACID/BASE/CAP, Test/Sandbox/Production, retention/archive/purge, CDC/replication, mirroring/log shipping, resiliency/recovery, audit/validation.
30 seconds
Chapter 6 keeps stored data available, intact, performant, recoverable, and controlled. The exam asks me to recognize the right role, architecture, environment, continuity/performance process, and governance control—not to administer a database.
Score each reconstruction 0–3
| Score | Meaning | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | blank / guessed | relearn controlling concept, then retry after a delay |
| 1 | recognized after cue | do a second no-cue retrieval |
| 2 | mostly correct but missed deciding distinction | write confusion pair + one changed-fact example |
| 3 | correct and explainable | move to mixed retrieval / Question Bank |
Repair sequence
- Identify the exact miss.
- Classify the miss: vocabulary, confusion pair, role, process, qualifier, or overthinking.
- Reread only the controlling section.
- Restate the deciding rule in one sentence.
- Create one changed-fact example that flips the answer.
- Retry without notes after a delay.
Example
Miss: selected Archive when stem said the approved retention period had expired and data must be irreversibly removed.
Classification: confusion pair / qualifier miss.
Rule: archive preserves retrievability; purge removes irreversibly after authorized disposition.
Changed fact: if records must still be retrievable for legal need, answer flips back to retention/archive.
Artifact 08 boundary
Do not create Artifact 08 from hypothetical weaknesses. Populate it only after study generates real misses, low-confidence correct answers, excessive time, or recurring confusion patterns.
